Miles Krajewski claimed ESD Championships in both singles and doubles play at this year’s ESD Tennis Meet, as the Bucks finished 2nd as a team.
Miles was joined by his brother Harrison Krajewski, and Luke Moeller as singles champions, while Ethan Marsh teamed with Miles to capture a doubles title. Marsh finished 2nd in his singles flight, as did Zac Briggs.
Next up for Yankton is the Class AA State Tournament in Rapid City on May 16th and 17th.
Yankton Bucks Baseball celebrated senior night last night with a sweep of Sioux Falls Washington, 10 to 0 in game one and 5 to 0 in game two.
Yankton recorded 13 hits as a team over the two games. Mark Kathol won on the mound in game one, with Kael Garry winning game two. Both pitchers threw complete game shutouts en route to victory.
Next up for the Bucks is their final home doubleheader of the regular season on Saturday against Tea, beginning at 11:00 AM.
Yankton Softball fell to Mitchell last night, as the Kernels took a 9 to 5 win over the Gazelles on Senior Night.
Senior Payton Moser led the Gazelles at the plate, finishing 4 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Jocelyn Behrns added a pair of RBI as well for Yankton.
Next up for the Gazelles is a road matchup with the Brookings Bobcats on Friday, beginning at 4:00 PM.
Mount Marty Softball standout Autumn Porter was named 1st-Team All-Conference yesterday by the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
Porter totaled a team-high in batting average, home runs, RBIs, steals, and runs scored this season, as the Lancers finished with a 21 and 24 overall record.
Also earning recognition as honorable mentions for the Lancers were Janeah Castro, Raegan Harper, Olivia Valdez, Sami Noble, Reese Peterson and McKenzie Gray.
Mount Marty Men’s Tennis had three athletes earn All-GPAC honors for the first time yesterday, following the best season in program history.
Pablo Rivest, Luis Lainer, and Gonzalo Medina are the first Lancer men to earn All-GPAC honors for tennis. Rivest and Lainer are both freshmen at MMU while Medina is a sophomore.
Also earning recognition as honorable mentions were sophomore Jose Andrade and freshman Alejandro Polo.
Mount Marty’s Eugenia Ramos was selected by the GPAC yesterday as an All-Conference Honorable Mention for Women’s Tennis.
Ramos, a freshman from Sante Fe, Argentina, helped the Lancers secure a 7 and 7 overall record, and win their first-ever postseason victory, defeating Doane 4 to 3 in the GPAC Tournament.
Yankton Gazelles Golf was defeated by Mitchell yesterday, as the two teams battled for the Marchand Cup.
Mitchell won by a 16.5 to 3.5 split in the event. Olivia Chipman took the only singles win for the Gazelles with Ellia Homstad splitting her singles matchup. The tandems of Homstad & Sabrina Krajewski and Faye Ireland and Olivia Woods claimed wins in four-ball.
Yankton heads to Mitchell on Friday, as they compete at Lake View Golf Course. Tee time is scheduled for 10:30 AM.
