Yankton Bucks Baseball returns to the diamond tomorrow for their final home games of the regular season, as they host Tea for a doubleheader.
Yankton is currently 11th in Class A with an 8 and 8 record. Tea enters with a 9 and 8 record, ranked 9th in the class.
First pitch of game one is scheduled for 11:00 AM. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 10:30. Bryce Ladwig and Brayden Butler will be on the call.
The Mount Marty Lancers finished 11th in the 2023-24 GPAC All-Sports rankings, with Concordia claiming the overall title.
The Lancers were led by a runner-up finish in men’s tennis, 4th place finishes in men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field and women’s tennis, and a 5th place finish in women’s golf.
Dordt and Morningside rounded out the overall top-3 in the conference.
Yankton Gazelles Softball travels to Brookings today for a Class AA matchup with the Bobcats.
Yankton is 12th in the class at 6 and 9 on the year, while Brookings is 8th at 7 and 5.
First pitch from the Southbrook Softball Complex in Brookings is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
Yankton Gazelles Golf is in Mitchell this morning for the Mitchell Invitational. Tee time from Lake View Golf Course is scheduled for 10:30 AM.
Yankton Track and Field will travel to Brookings tomorrow for the Eastern South Dakota Conference Meet.
The meet will be held at Brookings High School. Field events begin at 10:00 AM with running events scheduled for 1:00 PM.
Mount Marty Track and Field will be in Seward, Nebraska the next two days, as they compete in the Concordia Twilight Meet.
This is the final competition for the Lancers before the NAIA Outdoor Championships in two weeks. Events are scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM this afternoon.
The Crofton Warriors finished 2nd on the girls’ side and 6th on the boys’ side of yesterday’s District C-5 Track and Field Meet.
The top two individual finishers in each event and the top relay qualify for the Nebraska Class C Track and Field Championships. State qualifiers for the Warriors are listed below.
For the Crofton Girls:
- Jordyn Arens took 1st in the 1600 and 3200-meter runs.
- Ellie Tramp won the 300-meter hurdles.
- Caitlin Guenther won the discus with a throw of 126 feet 6 inches.
- Jacee Anthony tied for 2nd in the pole vault, clearing 9 feet 6 inches.
- The 3200-meter relay team of Jordyn Arens, Rylie Arens, Sophia Wortman, and Elizabeth Wortman took 1st place.
For the Crofton Boys:
- Jace Foxhove won the triple jump with a distance of 42 feet 2 inches.
- Seth Pinkelman won the pole vault, clearing 13 feet.
The Cedar Catholic Trojans swept the boys and girls team championships at yesterday’s Nebraska District C-4 track and field meet in Hartington.
The top two individual finishers in each event and the top relay qualify for the Nebraska Class C Track and Field Championships. State qualifiers for the Trojans are listed below.
For the Cedar Catholic Girls:
- Freshman Anisten Wortman won the long jump, 100-meter dash, and 200-meter dash.
- Lexi Eichoff took 1st in the shot put and was 2nd in the discus.
- Lauren Bernecker was 2nd in the 400-meter run.
- Addison Walter finished 2nd in the shot put.
- Anisten Wortman, Brynn Bernecker, Lauren Bernecker, and Kally Becker took 1st in the 1600-meter relay.
For the Cedar Catholic Boys:
- Freshman Hunter Benson was 1st in the high jump, clearing 5 feet 11 inches.
- Braeden Reifenrath was 2nd in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash.
