Mount Marty Track and Field will be represented by over a dozen athletes at the upcoming NAIA Outdoor National Meet, taking place next week in Marion, Indiana.
The Lancers will compete in eight individual events and four relays during the meet. This year’s national qualifiers and their events are listed below, along with their national ranking.
In individual events:
- Ashinee George, women’s 100-meter hurdles (#33).
- Deagan Puppe, men’s 110-meter hurdles (#26).
- Mason Schleis, men’s decathlon (#7).
- Luke Rettedal, men’s shot put (#14).
- Edwin Nyamutswa, men’s 100-meter dash (#7) and 200-meter dash (#13).
- Marcus Jnofinn, men’s 100-meter dash (#22) and 200-meter dash (#18).
In relay events:
- Women’s 4 by 100-meter relay team of Aniya Teppo, Hilaria Rodriguez, Alexis Even, and Zelie Sorensen (#27)
- Women’s 4 by 400-meter relay team of Tianna Bumbaca-Kuehl, Alexis Even, Josey Wahlstrom, and Calli Davis (#17).
- Men’s 4 by 100-meter relay team of Mason Schleis, Edwin Nyamutswa, Donovan Breckenridge, and Marcus Jnofinn (#22).
- Men’s 4 by 400-meter relay team of Zavio Prato, Nathaniel Kropuenske, Edwin Nyamutswa, and Donovan Breckenridge (#18).
- Carl Massa, alternate for men’s 4 by 400 meter relay.
- Zavio Pratto, alternate for men’s 4 by 100-meter relay.
Yankton Gazelles Softball is back in action today, as they are on the road to take on the Sioux Falls Lincoln Patriots.
Yankton carries a 6 and 10 overall record into the contest. The Patriots are currently undefeated at 16 and 0 and are the defending Class AA State Champions.
First pitch from the Sanford Sports Complex in Sioux Falls is scheduled for 6:00 PM this evening.
The Little Bucks and Gazelles Track Meet will be held tonight at Williams Field, beginning at 6:30 PM.
The event is open to Yankton students in grades Kindergarten through 5th, with registration opening at 6:15 PM.
The Avon Pirates boys and girls track and field teams each took home 4th place at yesterday’s Burnell Glanzer Relays in Armour.
For the boys, Avon captured wins in both the 1600 and 3200-meter relays. John Fathke, Tyler Tjeerdsma, Paxton Bierema, and Trace Pelton won in the 1600. Fathke and Tjeerdsma joined Easton Sees and Landon Thury in the 3200.
For the girls, Courtney Sees led the way with a win in the long jump. Sees was also part of three runner-up relay finishes for Avon in the 400, 800, and medley. Sees and Mylie Bares were part of all three relay wins, while Raegan Brandt, Rilyn Thury, and Maesa Kuhlman rounded out the relay teams. Kaeli Wallinga also took 2nd for Avon in the discus.
