Yankton Bucks Tennis finished 4th as a team in the Class AA State Tournament last week, led by a 2nd place finish in Flight 5 singles by Miles Krajewski (Kra-ski).

Sioux Falls Lincoln were crowned as the champions with 555.5 points, capturing their 10th straight title. Final results for all Bucks are listed below.

In Singles Play:

– Zachary Briggs finished 5th in Flight 1, ending the tournament with a 3 and 1 record.

– Harrison Krajewski finished 3rd in Flight 2, ending the tournament with a 3 and 1 record. His only loss coming to the #1 overall seed.

– Christopher Rockne had his tournament come to an end in the 5th-place semifinals. He ended the tournament with a 1 and 2 overall record.

– Luke Moeller finished 5th in Flight 4, ending the tournament with a 3 and 1 overall record.

– Miles Krajewski finished as the runner-up at Flight 5, ending the tournament with a 3 and 1 record.

– Ethan Marsh finished 4th in Flight 6, finishing the tournament with a 3 and 1 record.

In Doubles Play:

– Zachary Briggs and Harrison Krajewski finished 5th in Flight 1.

– Christopher Rockne and Luke Moeller were eliminated from the tournament in the 5th-place semifinals of Flight 2.

– Miles Krajewski and Ethan Marsh finished 3rd in Flight 3.

Yankton Bucks Baseball advanced to the Class A State Tournament on Saturday, winning their 3-game series over the Pierre Governors 2 to 1.

Yankton went down 1 to 0 in the series with a loss on Friday, before storming back with 4 to 3 and 16 to 6 victories on Saturday.

Samuel Gokie led the way at the plate throughout the series, finishing 5 for 12 with 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored. Matthew Sheldon added 4 runs of his own, while Lucas Kampshoff was 3 for 6 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Gokie and Mark Kathol were credited with the wins on the mound.

Yankton enters the state tournament as the #8 overall seed, and with face #1 Harrisburg in game one on Friday, first pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM in at Sioux Falls Stadium.

Yankton Baseball also had several athletes honored by the South Dakota High School Baseball Association, led by All-State recognition for both Lucas Kampshoff and Matthew Sheldon.

Kampshoff and Sheldon also earned All-Region honors alongside Samuel Gokie. Kampshoff, Sean Turner, and Tyson Prouty were also selected as Academic All-State honorees.

Yankton Gazelles Softball will be on the road tomorrow night for a SoDak 16 matchup with the Sioux Falls Jefferson Cavaliers.

Yankton is the #13 seed in the SoDak with a 6 and 12 record, while Jefferson enters as the #4 team in the class at 15 and 5. The Cavaliers defeated the Gazelles when the two teams met in the regular season, 10 to 1 last Thursday.

First pitch from the Sanford Sports Complex in Sioux Falls is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Tuesday.

Yankton Gazelles Golf will be in action today for a home quadrangular at Fox Run Golf Course.

During the meet, Yankton will face Aberdeen Central, Brandon Valley, and Mitchell, with tee time set for 9:00 AM this morning.

This will be the last competition for the Gazelles before the ESD Conference Meet, which will take place on Thursday in Yankton following a postponement.

The Nebraska Class C and D State Track and Field Meets concluded on Saturday, with several area athletes securing top-8 finishes. Top-8 finishers for Cedar Catholic, Crofton, Bloomfield, Hartington-Newcastle, and Wynot are listed below.

For Bloomfield (Class D):

– Brooke Pinkelman was 7th in the girls’ 100-meter dash.

– The girl’s 400-meter relay team of Madison Abbenhaus, Tenly Gilsdorf, Miley Pinkelman, and Brooke Pinkelman placed 5th.

For Cedar Catholic (Class C):

– Annisten Wortmann was 6th in the girl’s long jump.

– The girls’ 1600-meter relay team of Anisten Wortmann, Brynn Bernecker, Kally Becker, and Lauren Bernecker placed 4th.

– The girl’s 3200-meter relay team of Lauren Bernecker, Brynn Bernecker, Claire Rolfes, and Kally Becker finished 6th.

For Crofton (Class C):

– Caitlin Guenther won the state title in girls’ discus.

– Jordyn Arens was 2nd in the girls’ 1600 and 3rd in the 3200.

– Ellie Tramp was 2nd in the girls’ 300-meter hurdles and 3rd in the 100-meter hurdles.

– Jace Foxhoven was 7th in the boys’ triple jump.

– The girls’ 3200-meter relay team of Rylie Arens, Sophia Wortmann, Elizabeth Wortmann, and Jordyn Arens placed 8th.

For Hartington-Newcastle (Class D):

– Cole Rosener was 7th in the boys’ long jump.

For Wynot (Class D):

– Chase Schroeder was 8th in the boys’ 800-meter run.

– Dylan Heine was 8th in the boys’ high jump.
