Gas Leak Leads to Evacuation in Vermillion

A ruptured gas line in Vermillion caused a mobile park to be evacuated Tuesday.

Vermillion Fire Chief Matthew Callahan says that units were dispatched to a ruptured gas line caused by a tree that had fallen near the Suburban Mobile Home Park near 833 E. Duke St.

Callahan says that the tree hit three gas meters and ruptured a gas line.

The area was evacuated and power to the mobile home park was shut down.

Callahan says that the gas leak was then contained and power was restored.

Units were on scene for about an hour.
