Yankton United Girls Soccer took home three division championships at the NSC All-American Cup in Blaine, Minnesota over the weekend.
The U19 team went 3 and 0 in group play, scoring 17 goals while shutting out all three opponents. Yankton defeated Manitou FC Black in the final game to win the “Stripes” Division.
The U14 squad went 2 and 0 in group play, outscoring their opponents 9 to 1 over the two games. Yankton beat BV United Volt 3 to 0 in the semifinals, before defeating Salvo SC Central Red 3 to 1 in the “Flag” Division finals.
The U11 team went 0, 1, and 1 in group play, before winning their semifinal matchup with DMSC Red 5 to 0. Yankton would defeat Thunder Bay Chill 4 to 3 in the “Flag” Division finals.
The Yankton Post 12 Legion Baseball team returns to action tomorrow for games against Vermillion and Tabor.
Yankton will play Vermillion first at 2:00 PM. Vermillion will then play Tabor, immediately followed by Yankton against Tabor to end the night.
Coverage for both Yankton games on KYNT and KYNTV will begin 30 minutes before the first pitch. Bryce Ladwig and Brayden Butler will be on the call.
The Nike Outdoor Track and Field Nationals begin tomorrow in Eugene, Oregon, and four Yakton athletes will compete during the multi-day event.
As a team, Connor Slaba, Carson Ness, Dylan Payer, and Austin Gobel will compete in the Championship division of the boys’ 4 by 400-meter relay and the sprint medley relay. Individually, Payer will also compete in the “Emerging Elite” Division of the mile run.
The boys’ sprint medley relay will be the first event for Yankton’s athletes, beginning at noon on Thursday. The 4 by 400-meter relay and Payer’s mile run will both be held on Saturday. All events are held at Hayward Field, in Eugene, Oregon.
