Yankton Post 12 Legion Baseball swept the Renner Post 307 Royals last night in their doubleheader, winning both games 6 to 5.
Yankton was led by Owen Wishon in game one, as he finished 3 for 4 with 2 RBI, including a walk-off double in the bottom of the 7th
Game two also ended in a literal walk-off, when Evan Serck drew a walk while the bases were loaded in the bottom of the 7th. Matthew Sheldon scored three of Yankton’s six runs in the victory.
Post 12 is on the road for their next games, as they take on Sioux Falls East tomorrow in a doubleheader. First pitch of game one is set for 5:00 PM.
Yankton High School Alum Matthew Mors is one of four members of the South Dakota State Men’s Basketball program to be named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court.
The NABC Honors Court recognizes student-athletes who finished the 2023-24 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
Joining Mors on the Honors Court were fellow Jackrabbits Matt Mims, Luke Appel, and Charlie Easley.
The University of South Dakota Men’s and Women’s Track and Field programs were both recognized by the U.S. Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) as All-Academic teams earlier this week.
The USD women’s track and field team compiled a GPA of 3.66 as a team, the 16th highest in the country, and the best in the Summit League, marking the 12th straight year the USD women have finished inside the top 30 nationally.
Both the women’s and men’s programs have earned USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition every year since 2011. To be recognized, a program must carry a combined cumulative GPA above 3.00.
Tomorrow is the final day of the regular season for the South Central League, with the Yankton Tappers already securing the league championship.
