The Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) has seven teams in the Stats Perform FCS Preseason Top-25 and another receiving votes.
South Dakota State leads the way as the #1 team in the country. The Jackrabbits finished last season undefeated, winning a national championship for the 2nd straight year.
Joining the Jackrabbits in the top 5 are North Dakota State at #2 and in-state rivals South Dakota at #5. The Coyotes are coming off of a 10 and 3 season that saw them advance to the FCS Playoff Quarterfinals.

Phil Steele released his Preseason FCS All-Americans last week, and six members of the defending champion South Dakota State Jackrabbits are on the list, led by defending Walter Payton Offensive Player of the Year Mark Gronowski as 1st-Team QB. All six Jackrabbits are listed below.

With the legion baseball season concluding recently, Yankton Bucks and Gazelles athletes are gearing up for the fall athletic season.
A YHS Fall Sports Kickoff is scheduled for next Thursday, August 15th, to officially open the 2024 athletics season at YHS.

- Tuesday, August 27th at O’Gorman.
Bucks/Gazelles Soccer:
- Bucks/Gazelles doubleheader on Friday, August 16th at Rapid City Stevens. Bucks play at 5:00 with the Gazelles to follow.
Gazelles Tennis:
- Friday, August 16th at Pierre. Yankton will face Pierre and Rapid City Central in the event.
Bucks Golf:
- Monday, August 19th, day one of the Warrior/Lynx Invite at Brandon Golf Course. Day two on August 20th at Sioux Falls Willow Run Golf Course.
