The Yankton School District Alumni Association has announced that they will be establishing the Bob Muth Memorial Scholarship.
Bob Muth was a Building Trades instructor, as well as a football and track and field coach, for over 25 years.
Muth was an integral part in the start of a strong Career and Technical Education program at Yankton High School, as well as an advocate for technical post-high school education opportunities for his students.
YSD Alumni Association Director, Frani Kieffer, says that the scholarship was made possible by a $100,000 donation from Doug and Kelli Schieffer.
Both Doug and Kelli were Yankton High School graduates in the 90s, and Doug says that “Bob Muth took the time and energy to explain a career path of construction he thought might benefit me. At the time I had no idea of the career paths construction could provide, nor did I understand what tech schools were.”
Details on the Bob Muth Memorial Scholarship are still being worked on by the Schieffers along with the Yankton School District administration and Bob’s son, Brady Muth, who is currently a teacher and coach at Yankton High School.
Kieffer says that the scholarship will be for students planning to enter a two year or less school that offers career-focused programs.
