Yankton Gazelles Volleyball was defeated by Sioux Falls Christian last night, three sets to one inside the Summit Activities Center.

Jade Jere (Jerry) led the Gazelles with 12 kills and 12 digs on the night. One of those kills came late in set three after multiple digs from Alivia Dimmer.

Next up for Yankton is a road matchup against the two-time defending state champions Harrisburg on Saturday.

Mount Marty Volleyball’s Tevan Erickson was named the GPAC Setter of the Week on Tuesday.

Erickson is the first Lancer to earn a weekly honor in the GPAC since 2014. Erickson recorded 154 assists over four games this past weekend, with MMU finishing the William Penn Tournament 4 and 0.

The Lancers return home tonight to host Concordia in their GPAC opener. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 7:00. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.

Yankton Bucks Football remains 2nd in the Class 11-AA media polls following their 60-0 win over Huron on Friday.

Yankton received one first-place vote this week, while Pierre remains in the top spot following their win over Aberdeen Central.

Locally, Avon remains the unanimous #1 pick in Class 9-B, with Gayville-Volin outside of the top 5 but receiving votes in Class 9-A.

Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Soccer split their doubleheader with the Brookings Bobcats yesterday in Brookings.

The Gazelles defeated the Bobcats 2-1 in their match, while the Bucks fell to Brookings 3-1.

Yankton returns home tomorrow for a doubleheader with O’Gorman. The Bucks play first at 4:00 PM with the Gazelles to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 3:30. Brayden Butler will be on the call.

Yankton Gazelles tennis went 2 and 0 against Brandon Valley and O’Gorman in their triangular yesterday in Brandon.

Yankton won both duels 7-2. Nora Krajewski, Sabrina Krajewski, and Paige Mitzel were undefeated on the day, each going 2-0 in singles and doubles play.

Next up for the Gazelles is a pair of matchups with Sioux Falls Jefferson and Spearfish in Mitchell on Friday.

Yankton Competitive Cheer and Dance will be in Mitchell tomorrow for a competition at the Corn Palace. Events are scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM.
