Yankton Gazelles Tennis is 7th in the team standings after day one of the Class AA State Tournament with multiple athletes still able to claim State Championships.

Today’s matches will begin at 8:00 AM Below are the results for day one and today’s first opponents for the Gazelles.

In Singles Play:

  • Flight 1: Nora Krajewski is in the Championship Semi-Finals after defeating Mitchell’s Megan Mastel. She will face RC Stevens’ Arabella Scott in her first match today.
  • Flight 2: Sabrina Krajewski went 1-1 on day one and is in the 5th-place Semi-Finals. She will face Aberdeen Central’s Avery Tennant in her first match today.
  • Flight 3: Paige Mitzel is in the Championship Semi-Finals after going 2-0 on day one. She will face Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Julia Hedrick in her first match today.
  • Flight 4: Addison Gordon is in the Consolation Semi-Finals coming off a loss to Sioux Falls Jefferson’s Avery Rehfeldt. She will face Hazel Pedersen of Sioux Falls Roosevelt in her first match today
  • Flight 5: Karalyn Koerner (Kerner) is in the 5th-place Semi-Finals after going 1-1 on day one. She will face Watertown’s Cayda Weiss in her first match today.
  • Flight 6: Meagan Scott is in the Consolation Semi-Finals following a loss to Kaia Pauli of Sioux Falls Jefferson. She will face Sioux Falls Washington’s Corinne Cahill in her first match today.

In Doubles Play:

  • Flight 1: Nora and Sabrina Krajewski are in the Championship Finals after going 2-0 on day one. They will face a team from O’Gorman today for a State Title.
  • Flight 2: Paige Mitzel and Addison Gordon are in the 5th-place Finals after going 2-1 yesterday. They will face a duo from Mitchell for 5th-place.
  • Flight 3: Karalyn Koerner (Kerner) and Meagan Scott are in the Consolation Finals after going 1-1 yesterday. They will face a team from Brandon Valley for the Consolation Championship.

Yankton Gazelles Volleyball was swept by the Brandon Valley Lynx last night 3 sets to 0.

Despite the loss on the night, Gazelles head coach Tayler Stacey was proud of how her team picked up their intensity at the net in the 3rd set.

Yankton is off until next Thursday when they take on the Pierre Governors in the state capital.

Mount Marty Volleyball fell to 12 and 9 on the year last night, as they were defeated by the Dordt Defenders 3-1.

Julia Weber recorded a team-high 18 kills and a block for the Lancers. Tevan Erickson posted 38 assists and the lone service ace of the night for MMU.

Mount Marty returns to action next Wednesday, hosting Midland inside Cimpl Arena.

Yankton Bucks Football is on the road in Brookings today in a battle of #1 and #3 in the latest Class 11-AA Media Polls.

The Bobcats are the top team in Class 11-AA holding a 5-1 record, while Yankton is 3rd in the polls at 4-2.

Kickoff from Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium in Brookings is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 6:00. Bryce Ladwig and Josh Boelter will be on the call.

Mount Marty Football is in action tonight for a special Friday night game against Dordt University at Crane-Youngworth Field.

The Lancers have already set a new season record for wins at 4-2 on the year, coming off a 36-21 road win over Briar Cliff last week. Dordt enters at 4-0 on the year, ranked at #5 in the NAIA.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM this evening. Pregame coverage on KYNTV and Riverfront Broadcasting station 94.3 FM begins at 6:00. Steve Thum and Tehl Tanner will be on the call.

Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Soccer are set to host Northwestern tomorrow for a GPAC Doubleheader at Crane-Youngworth Field. The Women will play fist at 11:00 AM with the Men to follow.

Yankton Cross Country has the ESD Conference Meet tomorrow morning. Races will begin at 10:00 AM at Huron Broadland Creek Golf Course

The South Dakota Coyotes are home this weekend for their Dakota Days game against the Northern Iowa Panthers.

USD is coming off a 59-0 shutout of Murray State last weekend, while UNI looks to bounce back from a 41-3 loss to SDSU.

Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 PM tomorrow afternoon at the DakotaDome in Vermillion.

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits look to remain undefeated against FCS opponents this weekend, as they host Youngstown State for their HOBO Day game.

SDSU is the #1 ranked team in the FCS following their 41-3 win over Northern Iowa last week.
