Mount Marty Volleyball returns to the hardwood tonight to host the Midland Warriors in a GPAC matchup.

The Lancers are 12-9 on the year, 4-6 in GPAC play, coming off a 3-1 loss to Dordt last Thursday. The Warriors are 12-8 overall, but are 8-2 in GPAC play, having won 6 of their last 7 matches.

First serve from Cimpl Arena is scheduled for 7:30 PM this evening. Pre-match coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 7:00. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.

Former Yankton Gazelles standout and current Spring Hill Volleyball Setter Camille McDermott has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Conference volleyball Setter of the Week.

McDermott helped the Badgers capture a trio of victories at the SIAC Crossover in Memphis, Tennessee, recording 100 assists during the Crossover.

McDermott, a freshman for the Badgers, leads the conference in assists with 337 so far this year.

University of South Dakota Head Volleyball Coach Leanne Williamson will be the featured guest speaker at today’s Yankton Quarterback Club Meeting.

Williamson is the winningest head coach in program history, compiling a 221-96 record during her 11-year tenure.

The meeting will be held at the River Rock Event Center. A paid meal will be available at 11:15 with the meeting starting at noon. The public is invited to attend.

Yankton Cross Country will be on the road tomorrow for a meet in Huron. Races are scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM at Huron Broadland Creek Golf Course.

Yankton Competitive Cheer and Dance will compete in the Eastern South Dakota Conference Meet tomorrow in Brandon, SD.

Events will be held at Brandon Valley High School, beginning at 5:00 PM.

Yankton Gazelles Volleyball is back in action tomorrow night for a road matchup with the Pierre Governors.

Tomorrow’s match is only their third in the month of October, and their first since the 10th. Pierre enters on a 4-match losing streak with a 5-9 overall record.

First serve from the State Capital is set for 7:00 PM Thursday night.

University of South Dakota Sophomore Linebacker Gary Bryant III has been named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week following USD’s 42-17 win over UNI last Saturday.

Bryant recorded 11 tackles and his first career interception in the win. Bryant currently ranks in the top 10 in the conference for tackles with 47.

South Dakota State had a pair of players earn Missouri Valley Football Conference Player of the Week honors following their 63-13 win over Youngstown State on Saturday.

Angel Johnson, a junior from Viborg, SD, was named the Special Teams Player of the Week, after returning a kick for a touchdown. Johnson is the first Jackrabbit since 2017 to return a kickoff for a touchdown.

Gus Miller, a senior from Brookings, SD, was named the Offensive Lineman of the week, recording five pancake blocks. Miller led an O-Line unit that paved the way for SDSU to rush for 404 yards as a team in the win.
