Yankton Thrive has released a statement opposing Initiated Measure 28.
IM 28, if passed, would prohibit the state sales tax on anything sold for human consumption.
Brittany Wagner, the Tourism Director for Yankton Thrive, says that while the measure comes from a place of good intentions, it was poorly drafted.
Wagner says that if IM 28 is passed, it could result in major losses both locally and statewide.
IM 28 will be on the ballot on November 5th.
