The Yankton Police Department is investigating a death that occurred in the 1000 block of Walnut Street.
Yankton Police Chief, Jason Foote, says that authorities were dispatched to the scene Friday morning for a welfare check.
Foote says that upon arrival, an officer found an unresponsive individual and began to attempt life saving measures, but were unable to revive the individual.
Foote says that law enforcement is thoroughly examining all aspects of the incident, and that they are working diligently to gather evidence, conduct interviews, and determine the circumstances surrounding the individual’s death.
