Governor Noem gave her state of the state address on the first day of the 2025 Legislative Session yesterday.
During her address, Noem discussed a proposal to use taxpayer dollars to fund education savings accounts that could be used on private education and homeschooling.
Several South Dakota school boards including Yankton, Pierre, and Sioux Falls have publicly opposed the education savings accounts.
Noem also claimed that despite dealing with numerous natural disasters during her term, the state is better prepared for future problems.
Noem will appear before a U.S. Senate committee for her confirmation hearing as Secretary of Homeland Security today.
