A 10-year-old female sustained injuries in an incident as the result of a negligent discharge of a firearm in Yankton on Thursday.
Yankton Police Chief, Jason Foote says that the incident occurred in the 2000 block of Locust Street Thursday afternoon.
Foote says that the 10-year-old that sustained injuries was transported to Avera Sacred Heart Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Foote says that the preliminary investigation indicates that the incident was unintentional. Detectives and officers are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the discharge of the firearm.
