Mount Marty Women’s Basketball defeated Morningside in overtime on Saturday, 93-92 thanks to a game-winning buzzer beater from Kaela Martinez.

Martinez ended the day tied for the team-high in scoring with 19 points. Sidney Thue added 19 points as well, along with 6 steals.

Mount Marty is on the road for their next game, taking on Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska on Wednesday.

Mount Marty Men’s Basketball fell to the Morningside Mustangs on Saturday, 91-75 in Yankton.

Jake Jensen led the Lancers with a 23-point, 10-rebound double-double. Brandon Garcia added 15 points off the bench, with Jared Lopez scoring 12.

Mount Marty is on the road for their next game, taking on Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska on Wednesday.

Yankton Bucks Basketball took #2 ranked Brandon Valley to overtime last Friday before falling to the Lynx 57-51.

Carson Ness led the Bucks with 18 points in the loss, including the final four points in regulation to force overtime.

Yankton returns home for their next game, hosting the Pierre Governors tomorrow night. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM with pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV beginning at 6:30. Bryce Ladwig will be on the call.

Yankton Gazelles Basketball fell to the #2 ranked Brandon Valley Lynx on Friday, 61-11 in Brandon.

Kelsyn Wells led the Gazelles with 7 points and 4 rebounds in the loss, leading Yankton in both categories.

Yankton is off until this Friday when they take on the Pierre Governors in the state capital.

Mount Marty Baseball split their season-opening series with Mount Mercy this past weekend, going 2-2 over 4 games.

The Lancers bookended the series with victories, winning game one 10-4 and the series finale 4-0. MMU fell 10-0 and 5-4 in the other two games.

The Lancers return to Omaha in nearly two weeks for a four-game series with Clarke University, beginning February 15th.

Mount Marty Indoor Track and Field Athletes Logan Ferrari and Alexis Even set a pair of new school records over the weekend at the SDSU D2/NAIA Open.

Ferrari broke his own school record in the 3,000 with a time of 8 minutes, 35.17 seconds to finish 3rd. Even finished the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.63 seconds to set a new record.

The Lancer will host their last meet before postseason competition begins with the Mount Marty Last Chance at the Ruth Donohoe First Dakota Fieldhouse on Friday.

Yankton Gazelles Gymnastics placed sixth at the Eastern South Dakota Conference Meet, held on Saturday in Yankton.

Yankton posted a 135.575 as a team, achieving their highest score of the season. Individually for the Gazelles, Marissa Byrkeland was the top all-around finisher, placing 11th with a 34.525.

Next up for Yankton is the State Qualifying meet on Saturday in Watertown.

Yankton Club Bowling earned a sweep of Sioux Falls Lincoln last Friday, as the boys won 49.5-0.5, while the girls won 45-5.

Christian Weier led the Bucks, rolling a 279 high game and 746 series. For the Gazelles, Avery Turner had the top series with a 597, while Phoebe Shipps had a 230 high game to lead the team.

Yankton wraps up their regular season with a senior night doubleheader against O’Gorman on Friday. The event begins at 4:00 PM.

South Dakota Coyotes Women’s Basketball ended a four-game losing streak on Saturday, defeating North Dakota 76-66.

Grace Larkins led USD with 39 points, 12 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists. Gabby Wilke added 13 points for USD, with Cassidy Carson and Carley Duffney each scoring 10.

The Coyotes are back in action on Thursday, hosting Oral Roberts inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.

South Dakota State Men’s Basketball had their five-game win streak come to an end on Saturday at the hands of North Dakota, 80-75.

Joe Sayler led SDSU in scoring with 20 points, while Oscar Cluff posted 10 points and 19 rebounds for a double-double.

SDSU returns home on Thursday to host St. Thomas inside First Bank & Trust Arena.

South Dakota State Women’s Basketball remains undefeated in Summit League play following their 93-63 road win over Omaha on Saturday.

Brooklyn Meyer led the way for the Jackrabbits, finishing the night with a game-high 22 points, adding 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and a block.

SDSU is back on the road on Wednesday for their next game, taking on North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND.
