Yankton County has issued a hiring freeze for county employees.
County Commissioner, Dan Klimisch says part of the reason for the freeze is that the county is expected to receive less state and federal funding a year or two from now.
Klimisch says while the freeze is in place, county department heads will be allowed to speak with the commission about making new hires if needed.
The commission unanimously approved the hiring freeze.
