Yankton Bucks Basketball had their season come to an end on Saturday, losing in the SoDak 16 to Sioux Falls Lincoln, 48-26.
The Bucks held the Patriots to their lowest points total of the season in the loss. Austin Conway led Yankton in scoring with 7 points, followed by 6 from Miles Drotzmann.
Yankton ends their season with a 5-16 overall record and a SoDak 16 appearance. Yankton will graduate four seniors from this year’s team. Carson Ness, Easton Nelson, Bryce Kral, and Cohen Zahrbock.
Mount Marty Softball fell to 8-9 on the season on Saturday with a pair of losses to Evangel and Kansas Wesleyan University.
The Lancers were shutout in both games, losing to Evangel 8-0 and to Kansas Wesleyan 4-0.
The losses conclude a 5-game stint in Branson, Missouri for MMU. The Lancers are back in action tomorrow for their home opener against Dakota State. First Pitch from Sertoma Field in set for 2:00 PM.
Mount Marty Competitive Cheer posted their highest score in program history at this past weekend’s GPAC Championships, scoring a 73.01.
The score placed the Lancers 8th in the GPAC, and was nearly 20 points higher than their previous record of 55.61 points, scored last year.
Northwestern took the top spot in the GPAC, winning their second straight title with a score of 89.37.
South Dakota Men’s Basketball had their season end in the Summit League Tournament Semifinals on Saturday with a 100-75 loss to Omaha.
Chase Forte led the Coyotes with 24 points and 5 rebounds. Forte scored 20+ points in USD’s final 6 games of the season, including two 30+ point performances.
USD ends their 2024-25 season with a 19-14 overall record.
South Dakota State Women’s Basketball completed an undefeated Summit League season on Sunday, winning the Summit League tournament with an 84-68 win over Oral Roberts.
Three different Jackrabbits scored 20 or more points. Paige Meyer led with 26, Haleigh Timmer had 21, and Madison Mathiowetz had 20.
South Dakota State now holds a 29-3 record on the year. The win earns SDSU an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
South Dakota State Men’s Basketball had their season end in the Summit League Quarterfinals on Friday with an 85-69 loss to North Dakota.
UND’s Treysen Eaglestaff set a new Summit League record with 51 points in the win. SDSU was led by Oscar Cluff, who posted a double-double with 27 points and 17 rebounds. Yankton alum Matthew Mors added 10 points and 7 rebounds.
The Jackrabbits end their 2024-25 season with a 20-12 record.
Crofton Warriors Girls’ Basketball took home third place in the Class C2 State Tournament with a 52-45 win over Guardian Angels Central Catholic on Saturday.
Cassie Allen led with 18 points and 5 assists in the win. Sammie Allen and Jaisie Jansen added 9 points each.
Crofton ends the season with a 25-4 overall record.
Cedar Catholic Girls’ Basketball finished third in the Class D1 State Tournament on Saturday by defeating Alma 48-33.
Addison Walter led the Trojans with 13 points in the win. Annisten Wortmann followed with 8 points.
The Trojans end their 2024-25 season with a 17-12 record.
