Mount Marty Softball swept the College of Saint Mary in a GPAC doubleheader yesterday afternoon.
The Lancers won game one 3-2. Abby Johnson, Janeah Castro, and Olivia Valdez each had two hits and an RBI. Alyssa Sosky scored two runs and McKenzie Gray pitched a complete game for the win on the mound, striking out eleven batters.
Game two ended 11-4 for the Lancers. Kayleen Jacinto had three RBIs, while Johnson and Sosky added two each. Jacey Hayen was credited with the win on the mound.
The Lancers return to action on Saturday for a doubleheader against Waldorf in Forest City, Iowa.
Yankton Gazelles Softball was scheduled to travel to Watertown today to take on the Arrows, but that game has been postponed.
The game will be made up on either May 2nd or 3rd depending on scheduling during a tournament in Sioux Falls.
The Gazelles’ next scheduled game will be Monday, April 7th as they host Aberdeen Central at Sertoma Park.
Mount Marty Baseball will be in action today after their weekend series with Dakota Wesleyan was pushed up due to weather.
The Lancers are 16-12 on the year with a 5-7 record in GPAC play. The Tigers enter at 10-19 overall with a 9-3 GPAC record.
First pitch of game one is scheduled for 3:00 PM today in Mitchell. The Tigers and Lancers will square off again tomorrow for another doubleheader beginning at 2:00.
Yankton Bucks Tennis were scheduled to host a triangular against Brandon Valley and Mitchell tomorrow, but that has been postponed to Monday, April 7th.
Matches will be played at either Yankton High School or the NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center depending on the weather.
Matches are set to begin at 11:00 AM on Monday.
The University of South Dakota Women’s Basketball program has announced the signing of two transfers, Katy Reyverson and Alex Flattery, for the 2025-26 season.
Reyverson joins the Coyotes from UNI. Reyverson appeared in 26 games of two years for the Panthers. During her high school career in Marshalltown, Iowa, Reyverson tallied over 1,500 points and is the career record holder for blocks at West Marshall with 204. She was also a 1st-team all-state selection her senior season.
Flattery comes to Vermillion after completing her freshman season at Nebraska-Kearney, where she averaged 4.5 points and 3 rebounds over 28 games. Flattery was a multi-time all-state selection in high school at Sioux City East. She averaged 17 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 3.1 steals during her senior year.
