Mount Marty Baseball split their doubleheader with Concordia yesterday, ending their series 1-3 against the Bulldogs.
The Lancers grabbed their 13-12 win in the 10th inning of game two with a walk-off sac fly from Jackson Noem to score Joe Gokie.
The Lancers dropped game one of the doubleheader 14-1. Concordia won both games on Saturday, 4-3 and 12-10.
The Lancers host Hastings on Friday in a GPAC doubleheader at Riverside Field in Yankton.
Yankton Bucks Baseball swept the Brookings Bobcats in a doubleheader on Saturday, winning game one 10-5 and game two 7-4.
Sam Gokie struck out seven batters and allowed only two earned runs for the win in game one. Gavin Johnson went 4 for 5 at the plate with three RBIs.
Owen Wishon recorded three hits and two RBIs in game two, with Sam Gokie adding two hits and three RBIs for the Bucks.
Yankton will return home tomorrow to host Sioux Falls Lincoln in a doubleheader. Game one is scheduled for 5:00 PM with game two to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 4:15. Bryce Ladwig and Brayden Butler will be on the call.
Yankton Gazells Softball returns to the diamond this afternoon to host Sioux Falls Jefferson at Sertoma Park.
Yankton is 2-1 on the season following back-to-back wins over Aberdeen Central and Pierre. Jefferson enters with a 6-2 overall record.
First pitch from Setoma Park is set for 6:00 PM this evening.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Track and Field claimed five event victories at this past weekend’s Brandon Valley Invitational.
- Rozlyn Adamson won the girls’ 100-meter dash in 12.71 seconds.
- Burkely Olson won the girls’ long jump, clearing 17 feet 10 inches.
- Adamson, Olson, Tyan Beste (Ty-ann Best-ee), and Rylie Moser won the girls’ 800-meter relay at 1:47.10.
- Connor Slaba, Alex Swihart, Abe O’Brien, and Carson Ness won the boys’ 1600-meter relay with a time of 3:27.90.
- Cale Haselhorst won the boys’ 110-meter hurdles in 15.16 seconds.
The Bucks and Gazelles travel to Mitchell tomorrow for a triangular against Mitchell and Brandon Valley. Events begin at 6:00 PM.
Mount Marty’s Lexa Burtzlaff was named the women’s MVP of the Sioux City Relays track and field meet this past weekend.
Burtzlaff won the long jump and was part of MMU’s 1st-place 800 relay team alongside Andrea Sucha, Ariel Waller, and Macala Hood. Burtzlaff also placed 3rd in the 400-meter.
Other event victories for the Lancers include Andrea Sucha in the 100 hurdles, the team of Zelie Sorensen, Alexis Even, Hilaria Rodriguez, and Alexus Motley in the women’s 400 relay, the women’s medley relay team of Taylor Hinojosa, Macala Hood, Cassie Hohrman and Lauren Mitchell, and the men’s medley relay team of Gabriel Cox, James Deseh, Cooper Grotenhuis and Tague Tvedt, and Luke Rettedal won the men’s shot put.
Next up for the Lancers is the Northwestern open on Wednesday and Thursday in Orange City, Iowa.
Yankton Tennis duo Zach Briggs and Harrison Krajewski picked up their 100th doubles victory of their careers on Friday, as Yankton cruised to wins over Sioux Falls Jefferson and Milbank.
The Bucks swept Milbank 9-0 and defeated Jefferson 8-1. Yankton is now 11-1 on the year ahead of their matchup tomorrow with O’Gorman. The matches will be held at Yankton High School beginning at 4:00 PM.
