Yankton Bucks Baseball split their doubleheader with Sioux Falls Lincoln last night, losing game one 3-0 before winning game two 4-2.
Yankton was held to two hits in game one. The Bucks combined for ten hits in game two, led by Gavin Johnson, who finished 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs. Beck Ryken would win on the mound, allowing two unearned runs and striking out three batters over four innings.
Yankton returns to action tomorrow hosting Huron at Riverside Park. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 4:15. Bryce Ladwig and Brayden Butler will be on the call.
Yankton Gazelles Softball fell to the Sioux Falls Roosevelt Roughriders last night 4-1 at Sertoma Park.
Madison Girard struck out six batters over seven innings for Yankton. All four of Roosevelt’s runs were unearned. Eliza Gurney scored the lone run for the Gazelles.
Yankton travels to Sioux Falls tomorrow to take on Sioux Falls Washington. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
Mount Marty Softball picked up their eighth straight win last night, defeating Dakota State 4-2 in Madison.
Abby Johnson led the Lancers with two hits, including a home run in the win. Jaycen Hayen was credited with the win on the mound, shutting out the Trojans over three innings of relief.
The Lancers travel to Seward, Nebraska on Saturday for a doubleheader against Concordia, beginning at 1:00 PM.
Yankton Track and Field competed in Mitchell yesterday in a triangular against the Kernels and Brandon Valley.
For the Bucks, Yankton swept the top three in the 800 with Bryton Olsen 1st, Luke Feimer 2nd, and Ethan Brendan 3rd. Connor Slaba won the 400 and placed 2nd in the 1600 relay alongside Evan Serck, Carson Ness, and Abram Chance. Cale Haselhorst won the 110 hurdles followed by Miles Drotzmann in 2nd.
For the Gazelles, Rozlyn Adamson won the 100-meter dash. Adamson, Alivia Dimmer, Tyan Beste, and Burkely Olson took second in the 400 relay. Adamson, Dimmer, Beste, and September Rauch placed 2nd in the 1600 relay. Olson was 2nd in the long jump while Beste was 2nd in the 300 hurdles.
Yankton returns to Mitchell tomorrow for the Corn Palace Relays. Events begin at 2:00 PM at Joe Quintal Field.
Mount Marty Track and Field travels to Orange City, Iowa today for day one of the Red Raider Open.
Events are scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM, with Thursday’s action scheduled to start at 9:00 AM.
Kelsey Heath took home 1st yesterday at the Kaitlyn Erickson Golf Invite, as Mount Marty placed 5th as a team.
Heath shot a two-day +12 to take the top spot. The Lancers shot +109 as a team for 5th place. Also in the top 30 individually for MMU was Abigail Greenhoff in 28th.
Next up for the Lancer women is the Bent Tree Intercollegiate Tournament in Council Bluffs on April 21st and 22nd.
Yankton Gazelles Golf begins their season tomorrow hosted by Harrisburg. The invitational will be held at Spring Creek Country Club beginning at 9:00 AM.
Mount Marty Men’s travels to Orange City, Iowa today for the Northwestern Invitational. Play will be held at Landsmeer Golf Course.
Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Tennis will be in action today hosting the Northwestern Red Raiders in GPAC play. Matches are scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM.
