Yankton Bucks Baseball picked up a doubleheader sweep over the Huron Tigers last night at Riverside Field.
Yankton claimed game one 5-3 before shutting out the Tigers 10-0 in game two. Yankton scored five runs in the 5th inning to end the game, three of those runs came on the first home run of the season for Madden McQuade.
The Bucks improved to 10-3 on the year with the wins. Yankton will travel to Chamberlain on Monday for a neutral-site matchup with Spearfish.
Mount Marty Baseball returns to the diamond this afternoon for a GPAC doubleheader against Hastings.
The Lancers are 22-16 on the year following their series with Concordia last weekend.
First pitch of game one is set for 3:00 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 2:30 with Tehl Tanner on the call.
Yankton Gazelles Softball was shut out by Sioux Falls Washington last night, falling 10-0 in Sioux Falls.
Yankton falls to 2-4 with the loss. The Gazelles travel to Brandon on Tuesday for their next game against the Brandon Valley Lynx.
Mount Marty Softball travels to Seward, Nebraska, tomorrow for a GPAC doubleheader against Concordia.
The Lancers have won eight straight games and are currently 19-16 on the year, 9-7 in GPAC play.
First pitch of game one is scheduled for 1:00 PM with game two to follow.
Yankton Track and Field claimed four event victories at the Corn Palace Relays yesterday in Mitchell, two for the Bucks and two for the Gazelles.
For the Bucks, Connor Slaba earned four top-three finishes, including a 1st place finish in the 400. Slaba took 3rd in the long jump, 100, and 200. Cale Haselhorst picked up the other victory for the Bucks by winning the 110 hurdles.
Rozlyn Adamson led the Gazelles, placing 1st in the 200 and 2nd in the 100. Burkely Olson took home 1st in the long jump.
Yankton returns to action on Tuesday for a home meet at Williams Field.
Mount Marty Track and Field wrapped up the Red Raider Invitational yesterday with a pair of event victories.
Great Plains Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week picked up his third straight win in the shot put with a new season best of 56-4. Jonathan van Lien won the men’s pentathlon with teammates Michael Beyer in 2nd and James Deseh in 4th.
Next up for Mount Marty is the MMU Twilight Meet on April 23rd at Williams Field in Yankton.
Yankton Gazelles Golf shot a 361 as a team yesterday to place 4th out of 15 teams at the Harrisburg Invitational.
Ellia Homstad led the Gazelles with an 82 to tie for 11th. Sabrina Krajewski finished at 85, Bailey Anderson shot a 90, and Jordyn Cunningham rounded out the scoring with a 104.
Yankton returns to Harrisburg on Tuesday for a quadrangular with Harrisburg, Brandon Valley, and Brookings. Start time is set for 9 AM.
The University of South Dakota has announced that eight former student-athletes will be inducted into the USD Sports Hall of Fame.
