Mount Marty Baseball enters this week’s GPAC tournament as the #7 seed following a 26-21 regular season.
The Lancers will compete in the Morningside pod, but the games will be hosted at Riverside Field in Yankton because Morningside does not currently have a home stadium.
The Lancers’ first game will be on Wednesday against #2 Morningside at 6:00 PM. Also competing in the pod will be #3 Doane and #6 Northwestern.
Yankton Bucks Baseball picked up a shutout win over Sioux Falls Roosevelt in Sioux Falls on Friday, defeating the Roughriders 5-0.
Tate Beste finished 3 for 3 with three RBI and a home run in the win. Sam Gokie struck out eight batters over five innings for the win. Kael Garry recorded a pair of strikeouts in two innings of relief.
Yankton travels to Sioux Falls again tomorrow to take on Sioux Falls Washington. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
Yankton Gazelles Softball fell to the Sioux Falls Lincoln Patriots on Friday, 15-5 in Sioux Falls.
Isabelle Sheldon recorded a pair of hits for Yankton, while Ava Girard had two RBI and a triple.
The Gazelles are 2-6 after the loss. They will travel to Mitchell tomorrow to take on the Kernels. First pitch is set for 5:30 PM.
Mount Marty Softball was swept by the Midland Warriors this past weekend in their final GPAC doubleheader of the regular season.
The Lancers lost both games 9-1. Mount Marty finished the regular season tied for 8th with Doane, but will miss the GPAC tournament due to a tiebreaker.
MMU ends their 2025 season with a 20-21 record, 10-12 in GPAC play.
Yankton Bucks Tennis was swept by the undefeated Harrisburg Tigers last Friday, falling 9-0 at the Yankton High School Tennis Courts.
Yankton is now 12-3 with the loss. The Bucks retake the courts tomorrow for a home triangular against Lennox and Vermillion beginning at 11:00 AM.
Mount Marty Track and Field had several athletes compete in the Drake Relays and the Kip Janvrin Open late last week.
At the Drake Relays, Austin Gobel, Carl Massa, Carson Conway, and Zavio Pratto led the Lancers with a 10th-place finish in the men’s sprint medley. Gobel, Massa, and Pratto teamed with Christopher Munoz-Sturgeon to take 16th in the men’s 1600 relay.
The Lancers took two of the top three spots in the women’s pole vault at the Kip Janvrin Open, as Mya Zohner placed 2nd with Paige Clausen in 3rd. Osiel Cantu was the top finisher for the Lancer men, taking 7th in the 400-meter hurdles.
Next up for the Lancers is the GPAC Outdoor Championships in Hastings, Nebraska on May 2nd and 3rd.
Yankton Track and Field has a varsity triangular in Mitchell tomorrow afternoon at Joe Quintal Field.
Yankton will face Mitchell and O’Gorman during the meet. Events are set to begin at 4:00 PM.
Mount Marty Women’s Golf travels to Cairo, Nebraska, today for day one of the GPAC Tournament. The two-day event will be held at Centura Hills Golf Course.
Yankton Gazelles Golf will be in Pierre tomorrow for an invite at Hillsview Golf Course. Tee time is scheduled for 10:00 AM.
